In his presentation, “The Need for Reassurance in a Volatile World”, Professor Stein Tønnesson the outlines the aims of reassurance, distinguishing between the immediate needs for reassurance which is mainly conflict prevention, and the more long-term aims which are to lead towards a cooperative world. He makes a case for reassurance as playing a vital role in maintaining peace and stability international relations, and particularly in situations like those that we have today.
This presentation was part of a seminar ‘Building Peace in an Unpredictable World: Global Implications of Trump 2.0’, recorded in Tokyo on 7 February 2025 with an invited audience and hosted by the Toda Peace Institute.
