Selai Maramanisoso is the Project Officer for community-led relocation in Cogea that is currently ongoing in Cogea village, Wainunu, located in Bua Province in the northern part of Fiji. Born and raised in Fiji, Selai brings a deep-rooted understanding of Fijian culture and traditions to her work, advocating strongly for the integration of Indigenous knowledge and cultural values in all aspects of relocation and climate resilience. Currently employed by the Fiji Council of Social Services (FCOSS), Selai plays a pivotal role in managing both community and stakeholder engagements throughout the relocation process. Her leadership ensures that the voices of local communities remain at the center of planning and decision-making. Selai is presently working on the Vakabula Vanua project—an initiative that promotes Indigenous and community-led approaches to preparing for climate change-induced relocation in Fiji. Through this project, she continues to champion culturally grounded and sustainable solutions that honor the identity, land, and heritage of affected communities.
