Leland R. Beaumont is an electrical engineer and a systems thinker focused on civic innovation, wisdom studies, and large-scale social coordination. He holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Electrical Engineering and spent the early part of his career at Bell Laboratories and Lucent Technologies. Since retiring from industry in 2001, he has applied engineering and systems-analysis methods to the study of human behavior, emotional competency, wisdom, and democratic capacity. He is the creator of the Emotional Competency website, The Wise Path, the Wise Living Toolkit, and has contributed to applied wisdom education through Wikiversity. His recent work emphasizes coalition-building strategies and simultaneous policy implementation to address global collective-action problems. He lives in Middletown, New Jersey.
