Fang-Ting Cheng has since 2019 been working as a visiting scholar at the Department of Political Science, National Taiwan University, Taipei. Before starting her sabbatical in Taipei, Dr Cheng worked as a research fellow in the Law and Institution Studies Group at the Institute of Developing Economies, Japan External Trade Organization (IDE-JETRO). She received her Ph.D. and M.A. in political science from the University of Tokyo, and her B.A. from the National Taiwan University. Her special fields of study are international relations, power politics, environmental studies, global governance, negotiations on global environmental issues (e.g. climate change), energy transition in northeast Asia and environmental risk management. Dr Cheng has authored two books on climate change negotiations: The Climate Change Negotiation and Japan: Japanese Diplomacy and Measures beyond the Kyoto Negotiation (May 2013; Japanese) and The Formation of Complementary Relationships among Overlapping Regimes: Negotiations on Climate Change, US-China Relations, and the Paris Agreement (March, 2017; Japanese)
