Ernest M. Thiessen is a Canadian engineer and peace-technology innovator and the inventor of the Smartsettle negotiation and collaboration systems. He holds a PhD in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Cornell University and has worked for over three decades at the intersection of decision science, conflict resolution and public-interest negotiation. His recent work focuses on the application of multi-stakeholder consensus optimisation to global challenges including climate change and post-conflict reconstruction.
