Kazuo Matsushita is Professor Emeritus at Kyoto University, Chairmanof the Japan Society for GNH Studies, and Senior Fellow of theInstitute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES). Prof. Matsushitajoined the Environment Agency of the Government of Japan in 1972and served as Director of the Air Quality Control Division, Director ofthe Environmental Conservation Measures Division, etc. He alsoworked at the OECD Environment Directorate and served as a SeniorPlanning Officer at the United Nations Conference on EnvironmentDevelopment (UNCED). He served as Professor of GlobalEnvironmental Policy at the Graduate School of Global EnvironmentalStudies, Kyoto University from 2001 to 2013. He has long beeninvolved in environmental administration and policy studies, especiallyin the global environment. His publications include “Climate Crisis andCovid-19”, “Environmental Governance Theory” and “Environment inthe 21st Century and New Development Patterns” among others.
