デボラ・ウェルチ・ラーソンは、カリフォルニア大学ロサンゼルス校（UCLA）の政治学研究教授である。スタンフォード大学で博士号を取得した。コロンビア大学と南カリフォルニア大学で助教を務めた後、1988年から2022年までUCLAで教鞭を執った。研究分野は、国際関係における地位、ロシアと中国の外交政策、世界秩序など。著書にOrigins of Containment: A Psychological Explanation (1985); Anatomy of Mistrust: US-Soviet Relations during the Cold War (1997); Status in World Politics (with T. V. Paul and William C.
