Dr. Ramesh Thakur is a former Senior Research Fellow for the Toda Peace Institute where he was responsible for the programme on cooperative security and disarmament. Emeritus Professor in the Crawford School of Public Policy in Canberra, he has previously served as Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations and Senior Vice Rector of the UN University in charge of its Peace and Governance Programme; and Director of the Centre for Nuclear Non-Proliferation and Disarmament at the Australian National University.
