Stuart Casey-Maslen is Honorary Professor at the University of Pretoria in South Africa where he teaches international human rights and humanitarian law, disarmament law, jus ad bellum, and the protection of civilians. He holds a doctorate in international humanitarian law and master’s degrees in forensic ballistics and in international human rights law. Professor Casey-Maslen authored Jus ad Bellum (Hart, 2020) and The Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons: A Commentary (Oxford University Press, 2019) and co-authored A Guide to Disarmament Law (Routledge, 2019). His work on Arms Control and Disarmament will be published by Oxford University Press in its Elements Series in 2021. The Right to Life under International Law: An Interpretive Manual and Nuclear Weapons: Law, Policy, and Practice will be published by Cambridge University Press in 2022.
