Toda.eNewsletter # 11

March 31, 2010

Dear Friends of the Toda Institute and Members of TIAC,

We hope you had a good start in 2010 and that the first few months of the year were enjoyable and fruitful. First we would like to announce an important personnel change in our Honolulu office. Our Research Assistant Deva Temple has moved on to new horizons, she sends her best regards and thanks all of you for your support during the last few years. I would like to address a warm welcome to our new Research Assistant, Chloë Heiniemi, who joined us on March 8. Her bio can be found at: http://toda.org/about/hon_staff.html.

On February 6-8, the Toda Institute co-organized a conference on Music for a Global Consciousness of Solidarity in Tunis, Tunisia, together with The President Ben Ali Chair Center for the Dialogue of Civilizations and Religions (http://www.chairebenali.tn/cba_an/index.php).  Twelve scholars from Tunisia, and eight others from various countries, explored the ways in which music can be used to promote global citizenship and a sense of our common destiny. For more information about this event please visit the following site: http://toda.org/conferences/tunis2010.html.

We are also happy to announce the publication of several books sponsored by the Toda Institute, namely: Islam and Politics in Southeast Asia; Anti-Racism & Multiculturalism: Studies in International Communication; and Daisaku Ikeda’s Philosophy of Peace. More information about these publications can be found here: http://www.toda.org/publications/books.html.

The call for papers for Peace & Policy 15 on “Music for a Universal Consciousness of Solidarity” can be found at: http://www.toda.org/. The deadline for submitting full papers is April 15, 2010.

Last but not least, you can find our 2009 annual report by following this link: http://www.toda.org/olivier/annualreports.html.  We look forward to hearing your questions, comments and suggestions.

With best regards on behalf of the Toda.eNewsletter team,
